Range of vegetation communities, often in low-lying areas associated with moisture. Drought resistant.

Habit:

Rounded and tangled perennial to 70cm high. Fruit yellow and slender with four spines. Three spines 5-15mm long and the fourth much smaller (Year Round).

Values & Uses:

Dominates in degraded Bladder Saltbush communities where it plays a major role in reducing soil erosion. Colonises scalds and eroded areas. It also helps prevent erosion by trapping soil and seed and by protecting seedlings.
