Habit:

Erect, tufted, perennial herb 5-80cm high. Has a taproot and multiple stems. Narrow, linear leaves and pale blue bells flowers (Sep-Dec).

Habitat & Site Selection:

Riparian woodland, on alluvial sediments subject to regular inundation. 

Seed Collection & Propogation:

Dec to Jan. Monitor closely as seeds shed in 3-14 days. Propogate from seed or cuttings. Seeds may have a 4-6 month after ripening period. Stratification for 3 months at 3-5oC may improve germination. Germination takes about 3-4 weeks.

Values & Uses:

Ornamental. Edible flowers provide striking colour in salads. Readily grazed by stock.
