Variety of situations, often areas with extra water and along sandy creek beds. prefers most soils, in full sun.

Habit:

Small, spreading, prickly shrub. Leaves narrow and linear, dotted with glands on the under surface and have a sharp tip. Flower red with yellow stamens (Dec-Apr).

Seed Collection:

Any time, as seeds generally retained for many years. Collect from older wood. From seed or cuttings. Relatively drought and frost tolerant. Provides refuge for birds. Has ornamental value with an attractive flower.
