In many woodland communities often with red brown soil and light-textured topsoil. 

Habit:

Similar to Casuarina cristata, however generally smaller and of poorer form. (Flowers: Oct-Jan).

Seed Collection:

Jan to Dec. From root stock and seed. Tolerates salt and frost. Regenerates by suckering from roots. Useful for erosion control. Provides fodder in very bad years. Timber used for fencing and is excellent firewood.
