Habit:
Usually unbranched, erect, perennial herb up to 100cm high. Variable hairs on stems and foliage. Leaves usually narrow, linear or broader, lanceolate, with variously toothed or dissected margins. Yellow and petaloid or small and discoid flowers, in terminal clusters (Sep-Feb).
Habitat & Site Selection:
Common in a wide variety of habitats with low fertility soils and without prolonged periods of waterlogging.
Seed Collection & Propagation:
Mid November to January. Seeds develop fluffy appearance when mature, and fall away from seedhead easily. Propagate from seed. Seed may have an after ripening period of 2-3 months.
Values & Uses:
Useful as a coloniser of bare ground as it colonises readily after fire or other disturbance.
